The Sportklinik Stuttgart has two MRI systems at its command as a service to you– in one place in one department.
We specialize in the complete diagnostic investigation of the musculoskeletal system, including all important joints. Senior Physician Dr. med. Frieder Mauch leads us in continually developing this core competence. We thus offer you the newest technology from our MRI partner ESOATE and our experience with over 3,000 MRI examinations per year!

Claustrophobia is a thing of the past
The MRI units in the Sportklinik are so-called “open systems”. Since they were designed without the standard “tube” shape, patients with claustrophobia or children can be easily examined. These machines are also much quieter compared to many closed systems.
Note: Even if the requirements for an MRI examination at the Sportklinik Stuttgart do not apply to you, an examination is still possible. In general, as direct payers, patients can request that their compulsory health insurance cover the costs due to claustrophobia. Weight-bearing examinations – while standing
Our machines from ESAOTE offer the unique possibility of pivoting to a vertical position. This means that weight-bearing examinations are possible, opening up new diagnostic possibilities for our patients, particularly for examinations of the central weight bearing system, the vertebral column. Knee and hip joint images taken under weight bearing conditions are also interesting and offer diagnostic advantages.
Changing from a recumbent to a standing examination - It’s only a matter of seconds.
Our own current research results on this topic have already won international awards.
Two systems – Quick availability – One appointment
A timely examination and diagnosis are possible through the availability of 2 MRI machines. This enables a quick diagnosis and immediate initiation of therapy.
It is also possible to have an MRI carried out directly during some of our consultation hours – without an additional appointment!*
